California 4-H Projects

"Learn by doing" in an atmosphere where learning is fun is a basic philosopy of 4-H. Projects is where learn by doing takes place.

A 4-H project is:

  • Planned work in an area of interest to the 4-H member.

  • Guided by a 4-H adult volunteer who is the project leader.

  • Aimed at planned objectives that can be attained and measured.

  • Summarized by some form of record keeping.

  • A minimum of 6 hours of project instruction.

Includes categories in civic engagement, communications and expressive arts, community/volunteer service, and leadership and personal development.

Volunteers-Garden

Includes categories in health and personal safety.

Includes categories in ag in the  classroom, animals, biological sciences, consumer and family sciences, environmental education and earth sciences, physical sciences, plant science, technology and engineering.
